The Chief Mission Integration Officer, through his/her executive leadership and strategic implementation of our centers of expertise, fosters the creation of a mission-centered culture that permeates strategy and operations throughout the organization, enhances relationships with the institutional Church and supports the Ascension Sponsor in its fulfillment of its Administrative and Spiritual privileges, responsibilities and accountabilities.
Chief Mission Integration Officer MWF Tennessee functions as a strategic integrator and strategic influencer as a collaborative member of the senior executive leadership of Ascension. Responsible for fostering our Catholic identity as a healing ministry of the Church, supporting fulfillment of Ascension’s Mission and Vision, and integrating its identity and the Ascension Values in all aspects of strategy, operations, organizational culture and service. Accountable for the development and implementation of strategic processes and services associated with Mission Integration’s Centers of Expertise as a ministry-wide function across the national ministry: Clinical and Organizational Ethics, Ministry Formation, Ecclesial Relations, and Spiritual Care. Coordinates and participates in the ministry’s ongoing ecclesial relationships with local Diocesan Ordinaries and the larger Catholic community. Collaboratively participates in the discernment, due diligence and assessment of new and existing partnerships and affiliations.
PRIMARY FUNCTIONAL RESPONSIBILITIES/DUTIES
Operational Leadership
Ensure strategic integration of Mission and Catholic Identity throughout Ministry Market operations
Proactively offer insights on key business decisions to facilitate alignment with the preferential option for the poor and advocacy for those most vulnerable.
Identify ethical and theological opportunities and issues in Operations (Human Resources, Finance, Clinical, Communications), and ensure they are addressed in a manner consistent with the ERDs and our identity as a healing ministry of the Catholic Church
Direct Supervision and Management of in-market Mission Integration teams
Matrixed leadership with Mission Integration COE leaders
Participates in market resource planning processes (financial, human resources, etc)
Steward MWF and Market Mission Integration resources
Church Relations and Canonical Requirements
Developing and maintaining positive ecclesial relationships with local (Arch)diocese leaders.
Support the Ministry Market Executives in navigating structures and lines of authority within the Catholic Church on behalf of the market and to facilitate the success of key initiatives (e.g., partnerships, market growth, etc)
Communications (key updates, local and national announcements, etc)
Ensuring all canonical obligations are met (Alienations, Diocesan Health Care Policy, etc)
Ensure strategic implementation of the Mission Integration MWF goals and objectives within the market/service area.(As the market executive, the CMIO holds ultimate accountability in these areas. The work is done in partnership with the system office and local mission leaders.)
Ministry Formation -
Provide Executive Sponsorship for the delivery of Formation across market/service area
Continuously assess the ministry market/service area opportunities to effectively advance human flourishing through Formation programs, resources, and services
Facilitate Ministry Formation at Board and Executive Level
Oversee strategic implementation of Formation COE goals, data tracking and standards of excellence (e.g.,. the Essential Portfolio)
Champion Formation at all levels of the organization (promoting local and national programs, resources, and services)
Spiritual Care
Promote and hold accountable the ministry market’s adherence to Part Two of the ERDs
Provide Executive Sponsorship for the delivery of Spiritual Care across market/service area
Oversee and hold local team accountable for the strategic implementation of Spiritual Care COE goals, data tracking and standards of excellence
Practice and Promote individual’s ongoing spiritual and vocational development
Clinical Ethics
Promote and hold accountable the ministry market’s adherence to the ERDs as applicable to clinical care
Provide Executive Sponsorship for Proactive Ethics Integration across market/service area
Oversee and hold local team accountable for the strategic implementation of Ethics COE goals, data tracking and standards of excellence
Ensure proper communication and dialogue with the Diocese in regards to ERD related clinical policy changes and patient care.
Organizational Ethics
Promote and hold accountable the ministry market’s adherence to the ERDs as applicable to strategic and business operations, decisions and initiatives;
Facilitate completion of Values Compatibility Assessments for potential partnerships and acquisitions
Assess for and address partnerships, affiliations, joint ventures and community collaboratives for potential scandal concerns
Promote and facilitate organizational discernment and values-based decision-making in strategic decisions
Assist in ensuring Socially Just Transitions
Drive and Influence Strategy
Actively engage in the development of market based strategic plans
Articulate and illuminate connections between our strategy, Mission and Catholic Identity
Integrate Ministry Identity Action plans into market strategic objectives
Advocacy for those experiencing poverty and vulnerability
Promote and hold accountable the ministry market’s adherence to Part One of the ERDs
Active involvement in local and national advocacy efforts
Participate in the development and implementation of CHNAs and their implementation strategies
Promote compliance with Charity Care programming and requirements
Ministry Identity Assessment
Ensure Tri-annual completion of Ministry Identity Assessment (and requests for CIER audit if required)
Develop and Implement 3 year Ministry Identity Assessment action plans
