here are two main foci of the Chaplain Resident position: one is the educational training which consists of both theoretical and practical aspects of ministry.The second is the service aspect in which the Resident works as a member of a spiritual care staff. Under the direction of a Clinical Pastoral Education Manager and an on-site mentor the Chaplain Resident ministers to patients, families, staff and/or clients at an assigned facility within the Sisters Hospital CPE Program agreed upon sites. As an integral member of a multi-disciplinary healthcare team, the Resident provides spiritual and emotional support for patients, families, and staff within the context of illness, suffering, loss and death. Their ministry is guided by The White Paper (available on ACPE/NACC Websites) composed by five distinct Chaplain Certifying bodies: ACPE, NACC, CAPPE, NAJC, APC.
Responsibilities:
EDUCATION
Bachelor’s Degree preferred
Graduate degree in Theology or Masters in Divinity preferred
Minimum of one unit of CPE preferred
Ecclesiastical Endorsement preferred
EXPERIENCE
One (1) year of pastoral experience required

Ability to do theological reflection
Ability to function as a participating member of a small group (CPE)
