Matulaitis Rehabilitation & Skilled Care in Putnam, CT is looking to hire a Roman Catholic priest to serve as chaplain and reside on site in a private apartment within the Home.  The chaplain is responsible for all aspects of the Liturgy and will collaborate with the Director of Spiritual Care in supporting the spiritual needs of residents, their families, and staff, and promoting integration of the Mission and Values of Matulaitis Home.  This position is part-time as well as on-call.

Key responsibilities:

• Liturgical
  • Daily Holy Mass
  • Holy Eucharist to residents in their rooms a few times per week
  • Sacrament of the Sick, day or night as needed, and Sacrament of Reconciliation
  • First Friday Adoration & Benediction and other seasonal devotional services
  • Coordinates all sacristy needs

• Pastoral
  • Collaborates with the Director of Spiritual Care in attending to the spiritual needs of all residents, their families, and staff, and supporting spiritual life in the facility
  • Counsels in times of crisis or grief, provides pastoral visits and prayerful consolations
  • Instructs in matters of Catholic faith as needed

• Administrative
  • Participates as a member of the Spiritual Care Team and the Ethics Committee
  • Collaborates in the integration of the Mission and Values in the daily operations of the Home
  • Serves as a resource to management, providing perspectives from Catholic social and moral teaching, tradition, and the Ethical & Religious Directives for Catholic Healthcare Services
