Job Summary
To integrate the Mission, Vision, and Core Values (MVCV) into every aspect of MHHCC, fostering its Catholic identity and following the Ethical and Religious Directives for Catholic Health Care Services (ERDs). To serve as a member of the Administrative Staff and ensure that the Catholic worldview and commitments are expressed in MHHCC’s policies, practices, and strategic planning. To collaborate with the mission corporate member created to preserve the Catholic identity. To oversee the creation, delivery, and integration of formative experiences and spiritual practices for all caregivers. To understand, apply, and serve as a resource regarding the principles of Catholic Social Teaching and moral theology, including the ERDs. To incorporate the charism of the Little Company of Mary Sisters and their founder, Venerable Mary Potter, into the culture of MHHCC.
Qualifications
Education: Strong theological foundation and spiritual formation is necessary. Master’s degree in theology, spirituality, ministry or ethics is required. Education in health care administration or a health care related field is preferred.
Experience: Three to five years management experience is preferred.
Job Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities: The Executive Director of Mission Integration is responsible for the overall interpretation and implementation of the MVCV throughout the organization. The Executive Director of Mission Integration participates in policy making, direction setting, and in building relationships with religious, civic, and church communities to enable the mission and values of the organization to be vital and operational. Cultivating an integrated spiritual life and interpersonal skills, he/she establishes mutually beneficial relationships with diverse individuals and groups that are honest, caring, and joyful. Nurtures spiritual health and champions formation at all levels of the organization. The Executive Director of Mission Integration can identify clinical and organizational ethical issues and facilitate an ethical discernment process in collaboration with key stakeholders, subject-matter experts and trained ethicists. Establishes the direction and guidance for Pastoral Care. Promotes at all levels of the organization the ongoing integration, articulation, and celebration of the MVCV of MHHCC, the Little Company of Mary Sisters, and their founder, Venerable Mary Potter.
Performance Requirements
Responsibility For:
The Executive Director has the requisite authority needed to exert influence regarding the fulfillment of the MVCV. Serves as a member of the organization’s Administrative Staff. Participates in strategic planning and the development of annual goals and objectives of the organization. Participates in decision-making related to the organizational budget, especially in the allocation of resources for those in need and for the department of Mission Integration.
Collaborates with and is accountable to the mission corporate member created to preserve Catholic identity and provides updates related to new strategic plans or concerns that need action.
Collaborates in all aspects of fidelity to the MVCV in all operations (e.g., strategic planning, policy making, leadership development, finance, quality, and compliance)
Collaborates with key administrative and medical staff to ensure integration of the MVCV into organizational culture, decision-making, operations, and practice. Relates broadly throughout the organization so as to have an impact on implementation of values and ethics. Serves as a resource person regarding the articulation and appreciation of values and ethics.
Understands and applies values and principles to the business of health care—issues of management, finance, human resources and networking. Ensures that ethical issues regarding the provision of Catholic health care are addressed.
Oversees the operation and administration of the departments of Mission Integration and Pastoral Care. Provides for the effective communication of mission and values throughout the organization. Incorporates and explains mission and values in periodic education programs for all caregivers, physicians, volunteers, and the public.
Participates in marketing and public relations activities as appropriate to communicate and integrate the MVCV. Serves as a liaison to religious, civic, and church-related communities in matters of MVCV and Catholic identity as appropriate. Attends functions and represents the organization internally and externally as requested.
Collaborates in organizational development activities as they relate to team building and the fostering of Christian community. Promotes individual and communal spirituality, fosters spiritual growth for all caregivers and ensures continuing ministry formation programs for all levels of the organization.
Serves as Chair of (an active member of) the Ethics Committee and ex officio member of the Mission Committee. Leads ethics education, programs, and processes for ethical analysis (i.e., ethics committee, values-based ethical decision-making model) at all levels of the organization.
Promotes celebrations, especially during Mission Week, that focus on mission and values. Promotes and guides the Catholic identity of the hospital. Maintains knowledge of current trends and developments in theology, ethics, and the practice of pastoral care.
Physical Demands: Performs work in a normal office environment but requires significant visitation and interaction with all hospital departments, with minimal exposure to health and safety hazards. Has a minimal risk of exposure to blood or body fluids during performance or routine duties.
Special Demands: Demonstrate leadership at a professional level. Broad life experience leading to understanding of human motivations and concerns. Personal identity with and commitment to the mission and values of the organization. Ability to adapt to organizational change and a changing health care ministry.

Based in Jasper, Indiana and sponsored by the Sisters of the Little Company of Mary, Memorial Hospital has grown to include more than 30 specialties with approximately 100 Active Medical Staff in 33 health care centers in eight counties. Memorial Hospital and Health Care Center employs more than 1,800 people and provides medical care for 6,600 inpatients, 254,000 outpatients, and 29,000 emergency department visits annually. Nearly 950 babies are born at Memorial Hospital and Health Care Center each year.
Memorial Hospital and Health Care Center offers a comprehensive range of acute medical services in a modern 128-bed facility. The hospital complex, located on 15 acres between 9th Street and 13th Street in Jasper, has nearly 500,000 square feet under roof including a five-story medical facility, the seven-level LCM Tower, a medical arts building, and several other office buildings.
