The on-call chaplain is contacted for traumas, deaths, and spiritual care emergencies by the nursing supervisor during the hours when staff chaplains are no longer on duty (this allows for 24 hour, 7-day/week coverage). The on-call chaplain provides professional and competent pastoral ministry to patients, families, staff, volunteers, and physicians.
