Ascension Michigan is seeking a Director of Spiritual Careto join the team in Michigan.
The Director of Spiritual Care leads, directs and implements key initiatives, program, services and priorities within the Mission Integration Spiritual Care Center of Expertise within an Ascension Healthcare subsidiary. The Director of Spiritual Care provides operational leadership to a continuum of spiritual care services across a ministry market that aligns with the professional standards of chaplaincy; achieves the expectations outlined in the Ascension Striving for Excellence in Spiritual Care; and, upholds Catholic identity as reflected in the Ethical and Religious Directives for Catholic Health Care Services.
Responsibilities:
Responsible for ministry market-wide operational plan to achieve goals and priorities.
As the Spiritual Care COE leader, ensures the coordination and alignment of a variety of spiritual care projects and sub-projects and the linkages between them in support of the overall mission integration goals of the ministry.
Collaborates with other clinical and operational leaders to effectively integrate spiritual care within person-care models and delivery settings within a clinically-integrated system of care.
Clarifies the direction and tactics for spiritual care to align with the overall strategic direction of the Spiritual Care COE.
Establishes evaluative and quality improvement processes for spiritual care performance and defines quality goals and improvement opportunities.
Leads the Striving for Excellence in Spiritual Care assessment and planning process to advance excellence in spiritual care throughout the ministry market.
Directs the Spiritual Care COE communications and keeps internal and external stakeholders informed about the priorities, outcomes and organizational commitment to spiritual care as a core commitment and expression of Ascension’s Catholic identity.
Provides leadership in creating a spiritual environment that contributes to personal and organizational transformation that reflects the Mission.
Represent Spiritual Care at national, ministry market and community-based committees, councils and task groups as assigned.
Works collaboratively with Ascension’s Mission Integration Spiritual Care Center of Expertise to ensure alignment and coordination with national strategic priorities and COE standards of excellence.
Advances the professional field of spiritual care, develops talent and identifies the plan for continuing professional development and spiritual formation of spiritual care providers.
As requested by the Chief Mission Integration Officer, may serve as faculty for orientation, education and/or formation programs, presentations, retreats, etc.
Licensure / Certification / Registration:
Chaplain preferred. Practicing Catholic preferred. Licensure required relevant to state in which work is performed.
Chaplain specializing in Cert of Endorsement preferred.
Education:
Master's degree in Divinity, Theology, Pastoral Studies or related field is required.
Work Experience:
3 years of experience required.
5 years of experience preferred.
1 year of leadership or management experience preferred.
