The Coordinator works in collaboration with the Director of Mission Integration to provide leadership in assuring the integration of Mission into all aspects of work and life at the campus. The Coordinator plays a key role in shaping the culture that is grounded in the core values of Compassion, Inclusion, Integrity, Excellence and Collaboration, and supports a workplace spirituality reflective of the heritage and Catholic identity of the organization. The Coordinator provides for the religious and spiritual needs of all residents.
Department: Mission Integration
Reports to: Director of Mission Integration
Works in collaboration with the Director to provide Mission Integration formation and leadership for managers and staff. Fosters a culture based on the Mission, core values, Catholic identity, and heritage, which encourages pride and ownership in the Mission. Helps give meaning and purpose to the work of each employee.
Assists the Director in cultivating spirituality in the workplace. Leads prayer and theological reflections with managers and employees. Assists the Director and Executive Administrator to provide an annual off-campus management retreat.
Provides spiritual care for the residents. Ensures that excellent spiritual care is integrated within the continuum of care, particularly at the end of life. Provides scheduled spiritual assessment for all residents and charts all visits in the resident’s medical chart.
Schedules and coordinates liturgical services and chapel usage, including weekly Mass and Protestant services. Plans and conducts Catholic Liturgy of the Word with Communion Services for Catholic residents and facilitates Prayer Services for Protestant residents when a priest or minister is unavailable.
Recruits, trains and schedules spiritual care volunteers, guest clergy and Extraordinary Ministers of Holy Communion.
Plans and facilitates an annual memorial service for residents who have died over the year.
Serves on the facility Ethics Committee and attends the meetings of the area Ministerial Association. Serves on facility teams and committees as appropriate.
Is an active member of the management team and participates in the Manager on Duty rotation which includes two week days a month with a schedule of 11am -7p and one weekend every 3 months of 8am-12pm, times to be flexed with work week.
Satisfies all educational in-service requirements mandated by CHI Living Communities, the department, external accrediting, and regulatory agencies.
Attends all mandatory in-service programs.
Adheres to facility policies and procedures.
Completes yearly online education program by deadline.
Attends employee meetings on a regular basis.
In addition to the essential job specific duties listed above, the Coordinator of Mission Integration and Spiritual Care shall be required to perform all duties (essential and non-essential) in a manner consistent with the mission statement and core values of CHI Living Communities and will be evaluated on such basis. Furthermore, every employee must abide by all campus, departmental, and safety policies, rules, and regulations.
CHI Living Communities has the right to change the job specific duties and specifications required for the position of Coordinator of Mission Integration and Spiritual Care from time to time without prior notice.
Education: Bachelor’s degree required, Master’s Degree preferred, in theology or a health-related specialty, current knowledge of the teachings of the Catholic Church, including social teachings and the Ethical and Religious Directives for Catholic Health Care Services; a demonstrated familiarity with a diversity of spiritualties; and an ecumenical spirit.
Experience: Practicing Catholic who is, or is eligible to become, an Extraordinary Minister of Holy Communion. Experience working with seniors required; preferred in a health care setting. Board certification for chaplaincy preferred, at least two units of clinical pastoral education (CPE) or equivalent education/training in pastoral care required.
